This has never been more apparent than in a recent story surrounding an incredibly talented modder going by the name Scumbumbo. The modder was known as one of the pillars of The Sims 4’s community, sharing numerous incredible mods and cultivating a website that was visited by thousands of the game’s biggest fans. Unfortunately, Scumbumbo passed away recently, leaving behind a website full of his best work.

However, in a touching move by some of his dearest friends and fellow community members, Scumbumbo’s legacy will live on through other modders updating his content so it can be played for years to come. Discussing the decision, one of Scumbumbo’s fellow modders, Nisa K, posted: “In [Scumbumbo’s] final months he expressed a hope to many of us in private. A hope that he’d find others to continue his work after he was gone. So, in this way, I hope this page will act as both a testament to the great person that Scumbumbo was and for us to collectively keep his memory alive.” It’s an incredibly moving and beautiful gesture that shows just how much of an impact Scumbumbo had on The Sims 4 community and how greatly he will be missed.

Scumbumbo worked on a number of mods for The Sims 4, ranging from major fixes, jokey mods, and new items for the game. Some of his recent highlights include the hilarious “DON’T WASH DISHES WHERE YOU ANGRY POOP,” which allows any sink to be used to wash dishes, “PREGNANCY MEGA MOD,” which gives players the ability to better control their pregnancy, and “SKIP TODDLER LIFESTAGE,” which gives the option to change a baby sim straight to a child.

He will clearly be missed by the thousands of Sims players that interacted with both him and the site, but with his fellow modders and friends being so dedicated to keeping his work alive, at least fans will be able to enjoy his content for years to come.

The Sims 4 is out now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
