Anyone who frequents the community gallery may notice certain design styles trending. Homes and apartments with a modern flair are some of the most popular among the community. With lofts and other apartment-style floor plans being highly popular. While building a home from the ground up may not be for everyone, The Sims 4 has plenty of prebuilt options. Anyone can create their dream modern apartment with the help of a few expansion packs.

City Living

Many players will often prefer to build apartments on standard home lots. This allows more flexibility when it comes to editing the layout of rooms. For enthusiasts who prefer the prefabricated approach, the city living expansion pack is the perfect place to start when designing a modern apartment.

The pack includes multiple apartment layout options from one-bedrooms to full penthouse sweets. These lots can be further modified utilizing the more recent platform creation tool to separate rooms. In addition to the apartments, the pack comes with plenty of modern furniture and decor options.

Eco Lifestyle

Modern doesn’t always have to equal overly lavish. There are plenty of ways to cut down on bill expenses (without cheats). The Eco Lifestyle expansion pack adds Evergreen Harbor to the list of worlds sims can inhabit. The pack offers tons of upcycled decor that adds a gree touch to what could often have a colder vibe.

The Eco Lifestyle pack also introduces plenty of ways players can reduce, reuse, and recycle in their new apartments. In addition to upcycled furniture, the expansion pack also introduces ladders, which coupled with platforms adds additional space to an apartment. It is also important to note that this pack includes plenty of apartment lots as well.

Tiny Living

Apartments in The Sims 4, are definitely a lot smaller than regular residential lots. Fitting the necessities such as a bed, stove, and bathroom leaves very little decorating space. That is unless players have the Tiny Living stuff pack. Tiny Living rewards households with smaller floor plans with mood buffs.

The stuff pack also introduces a variety of multipurpose furniture options. Murphy Beds, compact entertainment centers, and plenty of vertical storage space are highlights of the pack. The furniture included can be exceptionally valuable when building a modern apartment within a smaller space.

Get Famous

The Get Famous expansion pack may be more centered around career options, however, there are plenty of themed props that make even the smallest apartments exciting. The flooring and wall covering options work well with other materials from the other packs. There is a wide array of furniture and wall art to decorate any space with.

Even some of the shelving options and bars fit right in. If a player wants to convert a spare room into a walk-in closet, this pack is perfect for them.

Fitness Stuff

Despite this stuff pack having significantly less building content in comparison to others, the Fitness Stuff pack is full of modern designs. Everything within this pack is sleek and has the standard geometric finish modern buildings go for.

Though some of the more adventurous exercise equipment will not fit into an apartment, the added plumbing options are perfect for a modern apartment. Most of the items also have the added benefit of adding the energized mood buff after each use. There are also several paintings and seating options to mix and match with some of the other items in the game.

Get Together

The Get Together expansion pack is full of modern interior decor and furniture. With most of the items in the pack being designed for nightclubs and other venues, this pack has plenty of wall and flooring options to work with.

As far as furniture goes, the majority of the options available in the Get Together pack fit a modern theme. Everything from geometric mailboxes to abstract wall art is in this pack.

Laundry Day

Sims are not always the cleanest apartment tenants. The Laundry Day stuff pack helps deal with some of the clutter. Though the furniture style is more reminiscent of a country living aesthetic, some of the items can be very modern. Hampers are a useful and stylish way to dissuade sims from leaving piles of clothes on the floor.

A smaller room or even a tiny corner in an apartment can easily be converted into a laundry space. The washer and dryer can even stack to keep a sleek and modern look. Using this pack and packs such as the Eco Lifestyle and Tiny Living pack’s storage options can really utilize the full space provided.

Island Living

Though the Island Living expansion pack has its own unique style, a lot of the pieces of furniture and decor can be repurposed to fit a modern aesthetic. This pack comes with sliding doors, ottomans, tables, and other little decorative items that add plenty of personality to any modern design plan.

The cabinet set that comes with the Island Living pack offers tons of kitchen and bathroom versatility. Especially when paired with the wall cabinets from the base game. The cabinets can also be styles to make a full wall entertainment space.

Parenthood

Modern apartments are not just for single sims, even families may opt to live in a smaller space. The parenthood stuff pack is a great way to add another layer to gameplay. The furniture options in this pack are also great additions to a modern interior. A few useful items in this pack include dishwashers, a new refrigerator, and several modern tables.

Cats and Dogs

Though not a requirement for a modern apartment, pets are a great addition to any space. Some of the apartment lots provided in other packs can often be lacking in sim interactions. The Cats and Dogs expansion pack, allows players to create cats, dogs, raccoons, and foxes to keep their sims company.

The pack also brings the more modern fish tanks to life, rather than having a still image floating in the tank. Though Brindleton Bay has more of a Southern architecture style, some of the decors can add plenty of personality in a modern setting.
