The most decorated gymnast in history, the 24-year-old has won four Olympic gold medals and 19 world titles over the course of stellar career and will be one of the stars of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, which begin next month following a 12-month delay because of the coronavirus pandemic.
Produced by Religion of Sports and directed by Gotham Chopra, the documentary is part of Facebook’s Versus series which delves into the personality of some of the world’s most famous athletes. Seven-time Super Bowl champion Tom Brady and three-time NBA champion Stephen Curry have previously featured in the series.
The documentary on Brady, Tom vs. Time, claimed a Sports Emmy Award for Outstanding Serialized Sports Documentary back in 2019.
Simone Biles released a brief trailer of the upcoming docuseries on her Instagram profile last week and here’s everything you need to know ahead of Simone vs. Herself.

What does Simone vs. Herself cover?
The documentary will primarily focus on Biles’ aspirations and challenges. The 19-time world champion will discuss dealing with the pressure of expectations that come with being the most decorated gymnast in history and having to cope with the postponement of the 2020 Olympic Games because of the coronavirus pandemic.
“My gymnastics career has been filled with a lot of ups and downs despite what a lot of people may think, and, in a lot of ways, my career has felt like I’ve been trying to prove myself to others. My mom has always encouraged me to be the ‘best Simone I can be’ and I now have a true appreciation for what that really means, which is one of the big reasons I wanted to come back for Tokyo,” said Biles.
“I want to challenge myself to be the best Simone I can be for me and, no matter the outcome, share with my fans the process and approach I am taking along the way in the hope that it may help inspire others to be the best version of themselves too,” said Biles in a press release accompanying the trailer.
