During the Silent Hill Transmission event, Konami announced the long-rumored Silent Hill 2 remake as a PS5 console exclusive developed by Bloober Team, Silent Hill: Townfall from No Code and Annapurna Interactive, an interactive media project called Silent Hill: Ascension made in collaboration with Behaviour Interactive and J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot, the Return to Silent Hill movie, a bunch of new Silent Hill merch, and a brand-new game known as Silent Hill F. But the Silent Hill Transmission event was exciting for fans of Konami’s other neglected franchises, too, as the announcements have given old leaks credibility.

Last year, VGC published a report about Konami’s video game plans, citing sources familiar with the company. The report mentioned multiple Silent Hill games in development that were supposedly being outsourced to other companies. This was confirmed to be true by the Silent Hill Transmission event. The same report also mentioned that Konami would be doing these reveals at some point in 2022, which also came to pass.

Since this information from the leak is correct, it makes it much easier to believe the other claims made. As far as Castlevania games, it was reported that the new game is meant to be a “reimagining” of the series, though what exactly that means remains to be seen. As for who is developing the game, the VGC report said that Konami is actually working on the game itself, as opposed to completely outsourcing it like it’s doing with many of the Silent Hill projects.

Castlevania is one of gaming’s oldest and most-beloved franchises, so it will definitely be exciting to see it make a comeback. However, there may be even more fans excited about the potential for the Metal Gear Solid franchise to find its way back into the spotlight. The same VGC report has good news for Metal Gear Solid fans, because if the report is accurate, they will have multiple projects to look forward to as well.

The big project mentioned in the VGC report is a Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater remake that is supposedly in development by Virtuos. This stands in contrast to rumors that Bluepoint could be making a Metal Gear Solid remake, though that doesn’t mean the older games in the series are going to be neglected.

Apparently, Konami is looking to remaster the older Metal Gear Solid games before the Metal Gear Solid 3 remake is out. Of course, fans should still take this information with a grain of salt. While the Silent Hill reveals validated much of the leak, it’s always possible that plans will change or that some of the information is inaccurate. Castlevania and Metal Gear Solid fans should wait for official reveals before getting too excited.
