With no confirmed new games in the Silent Hill series to anticipate, fans often look back to the original games. The most popular game in the series is Silent Hill 2, which is still considered one of gaming’s seminal horror masterpieces.

Silent Hill 2 was famous not only for its mind-bending psychological story, but for introducing many iconic monster designs to the Silent Hill series. The most famous of these was Pyramid Head, who has gone on to become a sort of mascot character for the series. But only slightly less famous are the Bubble Head Nurse creatures that are found when the player reaches the Brookhaven Hospital area. These nurse monsters were so iconic that their designs would be used along with Pyramid Head for the Silent Hill movies. Now their designs have been used again for a limited-edition statue by Numskull designs.

The statue gives fans a good look at the eerie character design they might only have seen hidden in shadows or rendered in PlayStation 2 graphical quality. Unsurprisingly, the monster design remains terrifying in 9-inch statue form. The Bubble Head Nurses’ appearance in Silent Hill 2 remains their most iconic; this is due to every creature in the game being designed as a manifestation of the main character’s inner demons. The nurses may initially seem to just be an effectively creepy design for a hospital level in a horror game, but the design does make sense within the themes of the game’s story.

Figurines and statues of game characters are very popular among some players, with many new games including character statues as part of their collector’s editions. Usually, these statues can be seen adorning gaming shelves or displayed next to the box for the title they represent. Players that are inclined to purchase these statues will often have a collection of favorite gaming characters rather than just one.

The Bubble Head Nurse statue makes for an interesting design on its own, and would look at home on a shelf full of iconic video game characters. However, it may look a little out of place if it was the only gaming statue on display. For a Silent Hill fan, the design is an iconic piece of psychosexual horror symbolism. But for those unfamiliar with the series, it is a suggestively dressed and bloodied woman with no face, which doesn’t exactly make for subtle living room decor.

Silent Hill 2 is available in the Silent Hill HD Collection for PS3 and Xbox 360.
