Sunday afternoon, Sloclap updated Sifu early access players with a message confirming that the downloading issues had been remedied. Sloclap itself, unfortunately, was not actually able to solve to problem, as the issue was on PlayStation’s side. As such, Sloclap was only told by the PlayStation team that the early access issue had been corrected and that Deluxe Edition buyers should now be able to download it. This ultimately led to around half the day without Sifu buyers being able to download the game.

Sloclap also took the opportunity to apologize to Sifu Deluxe Edition buyers on PlayStation platforms. This was obviously not a part of the studio’s plans for the game’s soft launch. While Sloclap can’t give players their lost time back, and PlayStation isn’t going to refund buyers automatically even though it was a problem on its end, Sloclap does want to make it up to people. As such, Deluxe Edition purchasers of Sifu can expect an exclusive gift in the future, to be announced at a later date.

As noted, the download problem has not been corrected for all Sifu buyers. Sloclap has several recommendations for those having problems, though. That includes using the Restore Licenses option in players’ User and Accounts settings. Alternatively, players can try launching Sifu from their PlayStation game library after restarting their console. There are reports that the problem is persisting for some Sifu buyers even if they do these things, though.

Those who continue to have issues downloading Sifu are being asked to contact Sloclap, not PlayStation, via the development team’s Twitter messages. Sending Sloclap details including users’ region, platform, and username can help get the issue solved for everyone.

This isn’t a situation that anyone wants to be in. Sloclap wants players to be playing Sifu, Sifu Deluxe Edition buyers want to be playing Sifu, and Sony wants everyone who uses its platform to have a smooth transaction. Here’s hoping that the problem that Sifu is facing will help ensure that other games won’t have to deal with a similar issue in the future.

Sifu releases February 8 on PC, PS4, and PS5.
