Fortunately, like the shortcuts in previous levels of Sifu, once the elevator has been unlocked, the trip from the beginning of the level to Kuroki is much shorter. Even then, managing this challenge can be too much for some players. For those players looking to beat Kuroki the Artist, this guide is here to help.

How To Beat Kuroki The Artist’s First Phase

The setting for this boss fight, a calm winter field, is much less intense than the area occupied by Sifu’s second boss, a burning dojo. Players arrive off of the elevator to find themselves walking up a stream with a shrine just ahead and to the left. This is the last opportunity to unlock one of the skills Sifu offers players and fans should make use of it before stepping in.

Kuroki’s first phase focuses on fast attacks with surprising reach and, similar to fighting Sean the Fighter in Sifu, it is crucial players keep their guard up and master dodging and parrying her attacks.

There is one attack from this character that will almost always break a player’s Structure and so it is crucial to retreat when she gives off a glow and begins this sweeping attack. Land light and heavy hits after her combos and especially after that unblockable attack in order to knock her into her next phase.

How To Beat Kuroki The Artist’s Second Phase

Mimicking the level, after players break Kuroki’s first phase they are brought into a painted, dream-like world. While Sean the Fighter’s second phase didn’t change much, Kuroki the Artist’s second phase is completely different. Instead of long, sweeping attacks, Kuroki ratchets up the speed and now dual-wields short blades. Despite that change, it is still crucial that those Sifu players taking on this challenge master how to parry and dodge before taking her on.

She will rapidly close the gap between her and the player, then dishes out kicks and knife attacks. Continue to keep the player character’s guard up and dodge or parry these moves but get ready to move as she uses an intense jumping kick and then launches knives in all directions.

These can be dodged, and she will likely follow these up by crouching down and launching a brutal slashing attack. The timing is relatively straightforward as this character crouches, yells, and glows right before she strikes.

Strike when she leaves herself open after the big moves and build up focus moves through successful dodges. As with other bosses in Sifu, Kuroki The Artist can be spared but only by not pressing the advantage during this second phase. When the prompt is brought up to deliver the final blow, players should let Kuroki recover and will be prompted with the option to spare her the next time her Structure is broken.

Sifu is available now on PS4, PS5, and PC.
