Subban was seen getting in Crosby’s face after the Predators thrashed Pittsburgh 5-1 on Saturday to get their first win of the series. When asked what they were jawing about, Subban said Crosby “told me my breath smelled.” Kind of weird, but not exactly a big deal.

At least, not until Crosby denied making those comments on Sunday.

“Yeah, he made that up," Crosby said (via Yahoo Sports). “I didn’t say that.”

OK, so who are we to believe? Did Subban simply mishear Crosby? Is Crosby lying? Is Subban lying? Maybe this is all a masterful plan from the latter to distract the Penguins, who lead Nashville 2-1 in this series. Crosby, for his part, had a take:

“He likes the attention.”

The Stanley Cup Final just keeps getting more and more intriguing. Hopefully the play on the ice matches the storylines off it.
