One thing that a lot of players love about Star Ocean: The Divine Force is that, in addition to the excellent campaign, the game is full of exciting and compelling side quests. The best side quests in Star Ocean: The Divine Force really set themselves apart from the rest and are well worth checking out.

10 Find My Kitty

Located in Larcette Village, the Find My Kitty side quest can only be started at nighttime. Travel to the Village Inn and, near the entrance, players can find a little girl. Talking to her will reveal that she has lost her cat, Chamcham.

Larcette Village is home to quite a few cats, which can make this side quest seem surprisingly daunting. However, Chamcham is actually found alone on top of the roof of a house adjacent to the Inn which means that it’s time for a bit of platforming. Players can access the roof by flying to the top of the Inn using the D.U.M.A. skill and then subsequently flying to the roof of the next house where Chamcham is.

9 The Corporal’s Farewell

The Corporal’s Farewell is a side quest with a happy ending that players can obtain from a soldier at the western gate of Baldaar Citadel once it has been freed from the Imperials. Upon talking to the soldier, he will instruct Ray and co. to deliver a letter from Corporal Sartus.

Corporal Sartus’ letter is intended for a woman who can be found in the fields behind the Village Inn. Talking to her will result in the letter being delivered and players can then travel back to the soldier who gave them the letter to complete the quest.

8 Welch The Compounder

Welch The Compounder is one of many side quests that begins in Delyrk Village. Players can start the quest by talking to Welch Vineyard, who will request that three Roly-Poly Beans be delivered to her. Roly-Poly Beans are fairly easy to acquire in Star Ocean, even in the early parts of the game, so there’s a good chance that players will already have three of them to give to Welch once they’ve started the quest.

If players deliver the three Roly-Poly Beans to Welch Vineyard, she will reward them with eight fol and Welch’s Communicator, as well as unlocking the item creation skill Compounding. It’s a relatively short quest with great rewards and so is well worth the player’s time.

7 When I Sleep And When I Wake

To start this side quest, players need to travel to the Cottorinth Region in Chapter 2 of the game and locate the boy who is having nightmares somewhere in the open fields. Talking to the boy will reveal that he has been having nightmares and that his only insight into their origin is a snowy, holy mountain.

Ray realizes the boy is likely referring to the Hallowed Mount Galca-Lemnas. Traveling to the shrine there will trigger an encounter with some Death Specter Mors. Players simply need to defeat them and then return to the boy to complete the quest.

6 A Healing Herb

The A Healing Herb is a fetch quest that can be obtained by a woman in poor health who is found in one of the houses in the south of the Seaport of Rythal. Talk to her, and she will request that the player bring her a number of herbs that grow in the Cottorinth Mountain Pass.

Completing the quest is fairly simple. Players need only travel to the Cottorinth Mountain Pass and pick six Dillwhip Herbs for the old woman. When players deliver them to her, she will reward them with 8,480 fol.

5 Creepy Crawly Critters

One of the very best side quests in Star Ocean: The Divine Force, Creepy Crawly Critters involves a bit of detective work. Players can unlock the quest in the Royal Capital, where a man will complain of being attacked by worms every time he eats a particular meal.

After receiving the quest, players should travel to the Baldaar Citadel and head straight for the local inn there. In the inn, they’ll need to order a meal with an especially pungent smell: Fermented Ratatouille. Then, they should head to the Aucerius Plains and the Starving Worms that the man in the Royal Capital mentioned will appear and attack them. Defeating them will complete the quest.

4 Luggage Larceny

To unlock this sidequest, players will need to locate the so-called Scumbag-Loathing Old Woman in the Larcasse Region. There, she’ll explain that her belongings have been stolen and request that the player return them to her.

To find the old lady’s belongings, players need to fast travel to the Mhedume Ruins. Inside, there are enemies called Thieving Scumbags, some of which will drop the ‘Old Lady Belongings’ item. Once they’ve defeated enough Thieving Scumbags to have retrieved three Old Lady Belongings, players can fast-travel back to the old lady to return her belongings to her and complete the quest.

3 The Immortal Knight

Talking to a certain troubled corporal in the Seaport of Cotto will unlock this side quest. In short, the corporal tasks players with defeating a number of Grendelian Soul Enemies in the Cottonrinth Region.

Next, players should travel to the Cottorinth Region. There tends to be a fair amount of Grendelian Soul Enemies in this area of the game, so finding five to defeat should generally be fairly straightforward. Afterwards, traveling back to the corporal in the Seaport of Cotto will complete the quest. The corporal rewards the player with 6,080 fol and the Aucerian Medal X1.

2 Endless Curiosity

To start the Endless Curiosity sidequest, players will need to head to the Parrapoeiam. If they talk to the Researcher Striving For Peace, he will task the player with defeating ten Nihlbethian Great Apes.

Players can then travel to Nihlbeth to find and defeat the Great Apes. The Apes are located in both the Northern and Southern parts of the region, so finding ten to defeat shouldn’t take too long. It’s worth exploring the region before returning back to the Researcher as plenty of helpful resources can be found in this part of the game.

1 A Trekker’s Charm

Easily one of the best side quests in Star Ocean: The Divine Force, players will need to travel to Eda Village to start A Trekker’s Charm. There, they’ll find the Still Undaunted Explorer, who asks them to retrieve a scent bag for him and states that they will need to cut the tail off a demon to do so.

Players can then travel to Hallowed Mount Galca-Lemthas where the Ancient Chimera can be found. Players will need to cut the tail off the beast and defeat it before returning to the Explorer in Eda Village to complete the side quest for a reward of 8,000 fol.
