RELATED: Tactics Ogre: Reborn - Most Important Choices In The Story

Tactics Ogre: Reborn also has tons of optional content, going from massive dungeons, shrines to optional story missions and character recruitment that can be easily missed. Coupled with this is the option to recruit different classes, and grind weapons and crafting materials through these side quests. While side quests are obviously optional, there’s a few that shouldn’t be skipped.

6 Phorampa Wildwood

This area is accessed halfway through chapter 2 by reading the Warren Report ‘Phorampa Open to Hunting’. The Wildwood is a completely optional dungeon, but it features a ton of beasts and non-human characters that can easily be recruited. Moreover, Phorampa has a ton of item drops and it’s quite useful in farming crafting materials as well.

After clearing the first encounter, players will have plenty of opportunities to recruit Gryphons and pretty much every type of dragon available. This can be especially useful if a player chances upon Flood Dragons, this class has high stats across the board and their special ability inflicts breach which can reduce the defenses of most bosses in the game

5 Ravness Loxaerion

Ravness is a fan-favorite, but her recruitment is quite difficult. Most players miss it in its entirety because it’s completely unrelated to Denam’s main quest. She can, however, be recruited if a few pieces fall into place. If the player is on a Law Route playthrough, they must spare Ravness’ life at Balmamusa, following this read the relevant Warren Report entry and rescue her at Reisan Way. Then, later in Chapter 3, after recruiting Jeunan, the player must read the Coritanae Warren Report and then head to Bahanna highlands.

Here a dialogue must be prompted between Jeunan and the boss. Finally, after Denam takes Coritanae keep, the player must return to Bahanna and rescue Ravness, and she finally joins you. This side quest is definitely worth it, not only for the extra dialogue and lore a player gets, but also because Ravness is easily one of the best characters in the game and can access a few unique classes.

4 The Rogue Buccaneer

Azelstan is another unique character with an extremely difficult side quest tied to him, but again it is well worth it. He comes with the completely new Buccaneer class and has excellent combat stats regardless. Azelstan has no interactions in the main story, so players must keep their eyes peeled on the Warren Report to recruit him.

In Chapter 4, players must read the Den of Thieves report and head to Port Omish. Here, Azelstan must be kept alive in an extremely difficult battle for this stage of the game. Later in the game, before the siege on Barnicia Castle, players must read the Pirates Graveyard talk, and head to said Graveyard, there’s no need to clear it. After this yet another talk pops up on the Warren Report, the Dread Pirate. Save Azelstan at Port Omish again, and he can be recruited when the Pirates Graveyard is cleared, at any point in the game.

3 Ganpp The Beast Tamer

This one is relatively easy. Players encountered Ganpp and his two Gryphon pets early in the game already, in Chapter 1 during one of the marsh battles. Much later in the game, during Chapter 4 and after the skirmish at Grimsy, players may choose to encounter him again.

This time he’s recruitable, and his two pets join with him. Reading the talk topic ‘Bandits of Neimrahava’ after Grimsy opens this new optional battle. If the players reduce Ganpp to low health, to the point his character model starts blinking red without killing either of his Gryphons, Berda and Obda, then Ganpp will join. He’s easily the best beast tamer in the game and his Gryphon companions are no slouches either.

2 Cerya and Ehlrig

Cerya is Cistina’s sister and one of the few characters that are only recruitable on the neutral route, and she’s definitely a must-have considering the character deficit this route has. To recruit her the player must go to Krysaro after the Hagia Banhamuba battle in Chapter 3 where Denam faces off against Nybeth’s cult.

After going to Krysaro, a new talk opens up related to the Pirates of Qadriga Fortress. When the battle commences, Cerya’s ally Ehlrig asks Denam if he will help them. Responding in the affirmative recruits both characters.

1 Palace Of The Dead

This is more of an honorable mention, simply because it’s so gigantic. This dungeon spans a hundred different levels and players cant leave after starting it, or they’ll lose all their progress. The Palace of the Dead does, however, feature a ton of loot, lore and challenging maps.

It’s also an important story piece for the game’s post-game CODA content. Essentially locks the recruitment of two very unique characters behind it.Players are recommended to go through this dungeon if they’re completionists, have a lot of time or simply love the game.

Tactics Ogre: Reborn is available now for Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5.
